March 2022 Wedding Planing Open Thread

Blog Post

It’s March of 2020 2021 2022. I feel like a broken record, but… HOW? How did the two weeks that we all thought we’d just lay low in our houses turn into two years? How did we all make it through Tiger King, learning to bake sourdough, sweatpants, ordering in our favorite foods, Zoom calls, Wordle, and all the other things we’ve bonded over from near and far? How did that small (relatively) amount of affected weddings and events turn into years of delays, cancellations, spontaneous elopements, sequel receptions, and all this ‘new normal’ that we’ve grown accidentally accustomed to? How

I don’t have an answer… I sure wish I did. But, here we are. Two years of pandemic weirdness, two years of uncertainty, two years of more questions than answers.

Just this past weekend, a tradition in my neighborhood/city got to come back for the first time after two years. A St. Patrick’s Day-themed marathon that runs right by the front of my house. It was fun to wake up in the morning and see folks dressed in green with shamrock headbands and sparkly tutus running down our road. It was great to sit on my front porch, the morning of Daylight Savings Time, and cheer on the folks who clearly woke up hours before I did. It was, admittedly, less fun to try to get my car out of my driveway in the middle of it all when it was time for us to leave the house. But it made me think about mile markers.

We’re at a huge mile marker here. Two years. I don’t know what it means, and I’m not sure how many more we have to go… but things are certainly better than they were (in a lot of ways), at this time in 2020 or 2021… like, maybe we’re hitting that elusive ‘runner’s high’ I’ve heard so much about. Maybe we’re at a place where we’ll be able to coast for a while. Then again, maybe we’re not. Either way, it’s a marathon, not a sprint, and we’re all due for a complaining / venting / question asking break. So, this is your open thread. Get to it.

BTW. THIS IS YOUR OPEN THREAD. YOU CAN USE IT ANY WAY YOU PLEASE (WITHIN REASON). SHOUT ABOUT YOUR JOYS, SCREAM ABOUT YOUR STRESSES, ASK FOR HELP FROM YOUR COMMUNITY, LEAVE YOUR SERIOUS WEDDING PLANNING QUESTIONS THAT THE PMW TEAM MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP WITH… WHATEVER FEELS RIGHT.
