Once you have all your wedding vendors booked and ready, it might seem like you can sit back and relax…but that’s rarely ever the case. Not only do you need to make sure you have all the small, finishing details ready for your wedding, but you want to make sure you get the most value from your wedding vendors as well. Here are some tips for how you can get the most out of your wedding vendors, not only so your wedding day is as beautiful as can be, but also so your vendors have an easy and enjoyable time working your wedding.
1. Communicate Clearly
The only way your wedding vendors can get things done the way you want them to is if you communicate your wants and needs. They should understand the schedule for your day, where they need to be and when they need to be there, and for how long they need to be there. Photographers should know who they need to get into family photos and caterers should know when to start serving food. If possible, all your vendors should have a point of contact for the day of the wedding that isn’t the bride or groom so they can get their questions answered promptly, without disturbing the wedding couple. Before the wedding day, however, make sure that all the bride’s and groom’s preferences are communicated so the vendors can do their job.
2. Take Their Advice
You’ve hired your vendors for a reason: they’re good at what they do and have promised to fulfill a service. All qualified wedding professionals have served countless brides and grooms and have a lot of experience to make your wedding day better. Trust them. Take their advice. They’re there to help make your day better and their opinion might be of great help to you.
3. Be Kind
Kindness goes a long way, especially during stressful times like a wedding. You may feel easily irritated or annoyed, but do your best to always be kind towards your wedding vendors. They will be much more inclined to do a good job for your wedding day if you’ve treated them fairly. Everyone gets nervous on the wedding day, including the vendors. Some kind words can help a great deal.
4. Let Them Have Some Freedom
Wedding vendors need some direction from you to make your day everything you want it to be. It’s perfectly acceptable to have your vision. That being said, the best work is created when artistic professionals are given the freedom to explore something unique and exciting. Don’t over-direct your wedding vendors. Let them bring their expertise and recommendations to your day.
5. Be Patient
Weddings are a big job, and while your vendors should treat you and your event with importance, keep in mind you aren’t their only priority. They’re running a business and likely have many other events they’re a part of. They don’t need to be available to you 24/7 and likely won’t respond to your texts or emails within a few minutes. Be patient with them, and be reasonable with your expectations. They should do a good job and make you feel confident in their ability, but they don’t need to be “on the clock” for you as soon as you’ve hired them.
6. Be Generous with Tips and Reviews
Tipping is not mandatory for wedding vendors. You pay them a fee for their services and that’s all that’s required. If you feel they’ve done a great job, however, then feel free to tip them in appreciation for their services. Leaving them an online review is another great way to show your support. Both of these things go a long way in helping businesses grow, and in helping other couples find the best wedding vendors for their needs.
7. Feed Them
Even if your budget is tight, feeding your vendors is a great way to show them you appreciate their work. They’re the ones helping to make your wedding day possible, after all. Working a wedding often means hours and hours on their feet for different vendors, so do them all a favor and let them have some food throughout their workday.
